With Flipbook! I pursued the idea of a universal toy that would allow people to have fun and at the same time reflect on themselves. A game where you have only yourself to beat and where you can share the final product.
Flipbook! started out as a small interactive installation running on a touch screen computer at the hallways of FABRICA. It’s potential was then realised and a web version was created.
Flipbook!'s popularity grew as thousands of animations were added everyday and it became an Internet sensation. It was at this point that Flipbook! was awarded the Japan Media Arts Festival Grand Prize.
Shortly after its release, American TV Show “Attack of the Show” featured it in one of its emissions. Many other media outlets followed suit including “Dazed and confused”, “DUNE” and “WMD”.
Flipbook! was also featured as Case Study for Digital Media and Computer animation in ‘The animation bible’ by Maureen Furniss P.h.D, Lawrence King publishing. (UK)
